YALE MUSIC SHEDA dignified addition and sensitive remodel transform the historically listed music hall by Erick Rossiter into a renewed cultural landmark. The design honors Rossiter’s original proportions, materials, and restraint—preserving the facade, key interior volumes, and signature detailing—while introducing a contemporary wing that is deliberately muted in scale and materiality. Updates include a reconfigured lobby, new restrooms, flexible rehearsal and education suites, ADA-compliant improvements, and discreetly integrated mechanical and life-safety upgrades. The project balances preservation and performance: restoring historic fabric where feasible, documenting and interpreting original elements, and inserting modern interventions that elevate the hall’s function for decades of future programming.
